One partner. Every function.
We cover the whole field.
Gone are the days of needing a separate person for every function — a fractional CFO who's never run a marketing campaign, a web designer who's never looked at your P&L, a consultant who delivers a deck and disappears.
I've built websites. Written cash flow forecasts. Designed voice of the customer programs. Run M&A processes. Built AI automations. Written 3-year strategic plans. Sometimes all for the same client.
That's not a resume flex. That's the point.
One strategic operating partner. The whole field.
My Story
Where I come from. Why I built this.
Small business has been in my family for four generations. My great grandfather built things with his hands. My grandfather ran a bakery and a painting business. My mom opened a coffee shop — one I worked in throughout school and eventually ran after graduating from college.
So when I say I understand what it means to be an owner, I mean it in a way that goes beyond the boardroom.
"I've brought discipline to energetic startups and the principles of innovation and velocity to sleepy enterprises."
I spent the next 20 years in the corporate world — in growth strategy and M&A roles focused almost entirely on small business verticals. I've worked inside private equity-backed companies and venture capital-backed startups alike, helping businesses find growth from a few million in revenue to the double digits of billions.
I've brought discipline to energetic startups and the principles of innovation and velocity to sleepy enterprises. Along the way I built a practical operating toolkit — the combined instincts of a CFO, a CMO, an investment banker, and a strategy operator. The kind of toolkit that usually lives inside large organizations, applied to businesses that actually need it.
That's what SmallPond VentureCo. is. I started this practice because I kept gravitating back to local businesses and early-stage companies — to the owners who are building something real, without the budget for a team of advisors or the time to find one.
"If your goal is to build a legacy, generate more cash, or finally get ahead of the business instead of behind it — I can help."
Whether you're running a business you built from scratch, one you just acquired, or a brand you've raised money to grow — I built this practice for you.
The name SmallPond came from a simple realization: the titles and tools of the "big pond" — CFO, CMO, strategy consultant — belong in 'small ponds' too. SmallPond is a choice, not a consolation prize. I'd rather help small ponds thrive than disappear into a big one.

How I work
Three principles.
01
Diagnose before prescribing.
Every engagement starts with a clear picture of where you are. I don't recommend solutions before I understand the problem. That's what the Diagnostic is for — and why every engagement starts there.
02
Operate alongside, not above.
I'm not here to hand you a strategy deck and disappear. I work alongside you — in the numbers, in the ops, in the decisions. The goal is to make you more capable, not more dependent.
03
Build for the long game.
The goal isn't a quick win (though those happen). The goal is a business that's more resilient, more profitable, and more yours — over time. That's what "build a legacy" actually means.
